So my iPhone had a cracked screen.
So I ordered a Glass repair kit, which includes the below:
I followed the instructions on Youtube to fix the screen. There's tons of them out there. The trickiest part was separating the LCD screen from the case. The instructions on Youtube clearly say to be careful with this, as you can damage your system. I tried to be careful, but I guess I manhandled it a little too much, as I tweaked the LCD. So basically I traded my broken glass for a broken LCD. Here's the glass after:
Which looks pretty good, until you turn it on and look at the LCD. Here's what I ended up with:
So now I'm stuck... To buy a new LCD looks like $30... which may be more than I want to pay. For a $10 screen, I gave it a shot. But for a $30 LCD, that is $40 sunk into the device, which is just a spare. So I may or may not order a new LCD and swap it out.
But the lesson learned is truly, BE CAREFUL SEPARATING THE LCD FROM THE CASE. Even a very little incorrect leverage will mess up the screen.
